Thanks to Jason I have a convenient place to describe my
work and how it can perhaps help you find your Potts ancestors or relatives, or
perhaps help you find other researchers working on your Potts line.
The Potts Database that I have created
currently has information on over 26,500 Potts surnamed individuals and their
spouses, for a total of over 33,000 Pottses.
When I began my own research I soon discovered that
there were a lot of Pottses in the world, and that there are many different
Potts ancestral lines. To facilitate my own Potts research I decided in 1992 to
create a computer database of Potts individuals who lived in the 16th - 19th
centuries. Since that time I have gathered the major
Potts-related publications,
birth, death, and marriage information, land records, wills, military records,
census information, and pedigrees from other researchers. I am still gathering
information and adding it to the database, and new revisions of the database
will be posted on this site periodically. New information comes in all the time.
While the bulk of the information is about Pottses who lived in North America,
there is a lot of information on Pottses who lived in other countries as well.

If you are unable to find your Potts ancestor in the database,
and you would like me to help search for your ancestor or relative or other
Potts family Cy@PottsNet.com. Just
e-mail me the information that you have, including all the specifics, e.g., full
names, spouse’s name(s), dates, places, siblings, etc., and I will search the
database for connections. In the past 13 years I have done this free of charge
for over 900 Potts researchers. When the search is
complete I will advise you of the result. Sometimes the result is a large list
of names and other related information. In this case I will either mail you a
copy of the database search report with instructions on how to interpret it, or
I will e-mail you the report in your choice of various software-compatible file
formats, e.g., Excel, Quattro Pro, Lotus, dBase, etc. All inquiries are kept on
file to facilitate repeat inquiries. I also keep a database of Potts inquirers
so that I can identify and notify those researching the same Potts line. You can
also do this yourself by visiting the Find a Potts
page at this site. While there you can also register your oldest known Potts
ancestor and perhaps someone will contact you with information.
